چکیده

Abstract Introduction Sleep and physical activity behaviors co-exist on a 24-hour continuum of movement, both independently contribute to long-term health. Limited research has examined temporal, day-to-day associations between sleep among caregiver-child dyads dwelling in under-resourced homes. We aim quantify the bidirectional objectively measured health metrics, sedentary behavior (SB), moderate-to-vigorous (MVPA) ecologically valid contexts. Methods 26 families (17 7 triads; N=55) from socioeconomically disadvantaged Delaware Philadelphia communities participated this micro-longitudinal study. Dyads wore an Actigraph their wrist for up 14-days measure health, SB, MVPA. metrics included nighttime duration (minutes), timing onset offset (hours), efficiency (percentage time bed spent asleep). Multi-level models quantified nightly with next-day SB MVPA, daily MVPA subsequent sleep. Models adjusted age, sex, race, day week, caregiver education, primary status. Results At within-subjects level children (46% female, 10.37□2.65 years) caregivers (85% 40.45□11.82 years), nights longer-than-average were associated less-than-average (p< 0.001). For caregivers, later-than-average was more-than-average (p=0.05), while children, 0.01). higher-than-average 0.001); 0.05). Conclusion The complex sleep, underscores consideration movement family-based interventions. Furthermore, similarities warrants further investigation interrelatedness family behaviors. Day-to-day associations between subjective sleep and affect in regard to future depression in a female population-based sample.

BACKGROUND Poor sleep is a risk factor for depression, but little is known about the underlying mechanisms. AIMS Disentangling potential mechanisms by which sleep may be related to depression by zooming down to the 'micro-level' of within-person daily life patterns of subjective sleep and affect using the experience sampling method (ESM). METHOD A population-based twin sample consisting of ...

Associations between physical and sedentary activity regularity and sleep in preschoolers and kindergartners.

Short sleep duration in childhood has been associated with increased risk for overweight and obesity. Research suggests that physical activity might mediate this association. However, studies examining associations between physical activity and sleep in young children have reported equivocal findings. A possible explanation for these inconsistencies is that past studies have looked at total phy...

Within- and between-day associations between children’s sitting and physical activity time

BACKGROUND The objective of this study was to examine whether increased levels of sitting time and physical activity in one period (within-day) or on one day (between-day) were predictive of lower levels in these behaviours in the following period or day among children. METHODS Children aged 8-11 years from 8 primary schools located in Melbourne, Australia, wore an activPAL for 7 consecutive ...

Relationships of physical activity and sedentary time in obese parent-child dyads: a cross-sectional study

BACKGROUND Research suggests physical activity is linked to obesity. Further, the physical activity of healthy parents and their children is associated with each other. However, this relationship has not been examined in obese parents and their obese children. METHODS The purpose of this study was to compare the physical activity and sedentary time of obese, low-income, ethnic minority parent...
